Four diverse SELECTORS will bring unique artistic perspectives to present their carefully curated playlists and share the musical inspirations that fuel their creativity. This intimate listening session brings together artists and creatives from different backgrounds for an evening of sonic discovery, personal stories, and musical exchange. Amy Cheng: Co-founder of The Cube Project Space in Taipei, she explores the trend of “retro-futurism” and the idea of a “nostalgic future” in our digital age. Through her playlist, she aims to capture the “dizziness of the times” and a “temporal-spatial mixed reality.” Philipp Aldrup: Philipp enjoys photography, muses and writes, reads books to his parents, and rediscovered his love for the cello. For SELECTORS, he shares the German music that shaped his upbringing — kitschy love songs, punk, protest, Neue Deutsche Welle, and avant-garde. Rafi Abdullah: A writer and curator from Singapore, and a key member of the art collective TO NEW ENTITIES (@tonewentities). He will share tracks that blend hardcore and ambient vibes. Minsoo: A photographer and community organizer (she/they). As co-founder of Bussy Temple (@bussytemple), a queer techno rave collective, and Queer Life Drawing Circle (@queerlifedrawing.sg), an experimental monthly life drawing circle, Minsoo brings a vibrant blend of creativity to the forefront. In her SELECTORS session, she will curate a playlist for a gentle exorcism — songs to help you transform into a leaf. The eclectic selection spans Brazilian jazz samba to Korean and Indonesian folk music. Saturday, 20 January 2024 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM Goodman Arts Centre (Blk L, 01-46) Admission: Recommended donation of S$10 at the door The evening promises a compelling blend of sounds, stories, and meaningful exchange.
