Programmes > SELECTORS > #5 Jeff Khan, Tang Fu Kuen, Nur Wahidah, Mervin Wong SELECTORS #5: Jeff Khan, Tang Fu Kuen, Nur Wahidah, Mervin Wong This October 6th, four diverse SELECTORS will present their carefully curated playlists and share the musical inspirations that fuel their inspiration and creativity. This intimate listening session brings together artists and creatives from different backgrounds for an evening of sonic discovery, personal stories, and musical exchange. Jeff Khan: A curator and writer based in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia), and Creative Director of Asia TOPA: Asia Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts, Arts Centre Melbourne. He will present the inaugural set for his new DJ persona, Chaos Otter, throwing some Asian-inflected electronica, pop and ambient sounds into the mix for some warmth and togetherness. Tang Fu Kuen: A Gen X with an eclectic music spectrum, as he tries to connect to his ancestors and the generations to come. He works in both patrimonial and contemporary fields of art and culture. He adores objects and movement and, most of all, words. That’s why he studied his first love - literature. Nur Wahidah: The singer of the alternative-rock band Subsonic Eye. Viewing everything in life through an ecological lens, she has learnt everything she knows from nature. Her playlist features songs about nature, songs that tell stories intertwined with nature, and songs that remind her of her love for nature. Mervin Wong: A performer raised in chambers of string, it took a moment for him to recognize the Viola as his truest limb. The tectonic shift to this deeper, enduring register has shaped his foray into electronic music-making. He will be sharing a mix that captures the journey of exploring the soundscape of the SEA-based underground and experimental scene, viewing the sonic narrative from the lens of South East Asia.
