21 Dec 2019 In this special year end edition of Source, we present Kritikal Karaoke – a new way of karaoke conceptualised by our friends Farhan (Bras Basah Open: School of Theory & Philosophy), Ila & Bani Haykal This is a karaoke competition reminiscent of the “Asia Bagus” singing competition in the 90s. We have put together 12 diverse and brave contestants across the local arts scene who will present songs that they think best goes against the neoliberal aesthetic. In short, songs that are anti-neoliberal aesthetics, anti-resilience. A panel of judges and YOU, the audience will have a say in the overall result of the karaoke competition.
